The iconic East Coast Dory was once a common sight on the eastern shores of Canada. A small but robust working boat used by fishermen. The dory was the work station for the dorymen long before any machinery was used to do all the labor intensive work. 
Launched from schooners like the famous Bluenose, these boats would spend long days fishing on the Banks of Eastern Canada and new England.
Dories were built locally with each builder crafting their own unique characteristics into each boat. They would use local materiels that were readily available to them at the time.
The East Coast Dory kit represents a typical design that would be have been built in Lunenburg Nova Scotia in the first part of the 1900's
